What makes an Italian sofa work outside

A designer Italian sofa for a living room can take its time with down and velvet. Outdoors the same comfort has to survive rain, sun and a winter under a cover. RODA solves it with frames that do not rot or rust, teak or aluminum, and cushions made with hydro-draining or quick-dry padding, so water passes through instead of staying in the seat.

The design side stays Italian. Rodolfo Dordoni, Piero Lissoni and Gordon Guillaumier, who also design upholstered furniture for Italian companies indoors, drew most of the RODA sofa families, and Adam D. Tihany drew Thea for hotel terraces. Proportions are generous, seats are deep, and the fabrics come from RODA's own outdoor range.

Many RODA sofa collections are modular: left and right end modules, central modules and corners that add up to an L or a U, plus footstools and coffee tables in the same finish. That makes an Italian sofa set easy to size to a deck or a covered porch.
