RODA, an outdoor furniture maker on Lake Varese

RODA furniture comes from Italy, from two sites on Lake Varese north of Milan. The company was founded in 1991 by Roberto Pompa, is still run by his family, and makes outdoor sofas, chairs, tables, daybeds and accessories for homes and hotels around the world.

Three decades

From a family idea to 50 collections

Roberto Pompa started RODA in 1991 with a plain idea: a garden or a terrace deserves furniture as considered as a living room. He named the company after his family. RO stands for Roberto and his wife Rosaria, DA for their sons Daniele and Davide.

The second decade brought design. Rodolfo Dordoni joined in 2005, first on a collection and then as art director, and the same year RODA showed at the Salone del Mobile in Milan for the first time. The catalog that followed mixed teak, metal, belts and fabrics in ways outdoor furniture had rarely tried.

In the third decade a new generation of the family took the lead, and RODA added a production and logistics site in Bodio Lomnago to its headquarters in Gavirate. Bringing prototyping, manufacturing and packing in house is what lets RODA make each piece to order in the finish a client picks.

Built to last

Sustainability, the RODA way

RODA's first argument for sustainability is longevity: pieces meant to stay in use for many seasons. The company holds ISO 14001:2015 certification for its environmental management and FSC certification FSC-C155819 for wood from responsibly managed forests.

The teak in several collections is FSC certified. Straps, fabrics and cords are regenerated from recycled production material through a process that uses less water and fewer chemicals, and aluminum is used more and more because it can be recycled again and again.
