RODA Triptyque outdoor rug in three panels
Triptyque is French for triptych, and RODA Triptyque follows its name: one rug divided into three identical sections. RODA's in-house studio had it woven by hand on a loom from synthetic yarn, soft to the touch and made for life outside. It comes in stone, natural and brick, three colors that sit easily under lounge sets and dining tables from the RODA garden furniture range.

The pattern comes from the loom itself. Across each of the three sections, the weave alternates between yarn and the bare warp threads, and that rhythm draws a line of small marks that recall the hem stitches on a well-made garment. The divisions are quiet, so the rug reads as one piece from a distance and shows its panels only up close. Along the two 3 meter sides, the warp is closed with fringes that are twisted together.
The yarn is 100 percent polypropylene, a synthetic fiber that shrugs off rain and takes almost no water in. Looking after it takes a vacuum and a hose. Rinse it with plain water, let it dry in the air, and keep the pressure washer away, since RODA advises against it for this weave. Because it cleans this way, it can stay on a terrace through the warm months and be rolled up for storage at the end of the season.
Stone is the cool option, suited to gray paving and dark metal frames. Natural sits closest to teak and pale wood. Brick is the warmest, a clay red that holds its own on a white terrace. The rug comes in two sizes: 300 by 200 cm, about 10 by 6 1/2 feet, for a sofa group, and 400 by 300 cm, about 13 by 10 feet, for a larger lounge or a dining table.
RODA's studio designed Triptyque as an accessory for its own furniture, to give a sofa group or a table a defined area on open paving. The rugs are woven in regions that specialize in carpet making, under a socially responsible production without child labor. The design and the choice of colors come from an Italian outdoor furniture house that treats a terrace with the same care as an interior.
