RODA Piper aluminum chairs, bar stools and sunlounger
RODA Piper started with a garden lounger and grew into one of the broadest families in RODA furniture: dining chairs and armchairs, comfort chairs, bar stools, four low tables and the sunlounger that began it all. Rodolfo Dordoni drew every seat on the same tubular aluminum frame, which is where the name comes from, so a bar counter, a dining table and a pool deck can share one look.

One tube, many seats
Piper has three backrest types, and the model numbers sort them. Models numbered in the 0s, such as the 020 chair and 050 bar stool, have a Batyline back, a taut technical mesh. The 100s are wrapped in woven polyester or acrylic belts in eight colors. The 200s use padded belts, softer against the shoulders, including recycled versions in clay and stone. Seats are teak or HiREK polyurethane resin in gray or mole, with an optional cushion on top.
Every frame is powder coated aluminum in smoke, milk or rust, and aluminum does not rust, which matters for chairs that live by a pool or near the coast. Each cushion has a plug that fits into the drain hole in the seat and holds it in place, and the hydro-draining padding sheds rain quickly. Chairs and armchairs stack, and RODA points out that this, along with easy upkeep, makes Piper a fit for restaurants and hotels.
Four tables round out the family. Two are square: a 23 1/4 inch side table and a 31 1/2 inch coffee table, with tops in teak, stone or gres. Two are round: a 43 1/4 inch coffee table in stone or gres, and a 26 3/8 inch side table that adds wavy glass and colored concrete to the list. The stones on offer are Carrara marble, Luna and Farsena. The bar stools set the seat 29 1/2 inches off the ground for a high counter.
The sunlounger is about 77 1/4 inches long, sits low, stacks, and has a Batyline back that reclines to four positions. A row of them along a pool edge takes the same frame color as the dining chairs on the terrace above, so the whole outdoor area holds together. Piper is made in Italy, and the long list of options, from belt colors to tabletops, gets settled when you ask for a price.
