Seen from the side, Surfer is a single curved line. It is about 75 5/8 inches long and only 13 inches high, so a row of them along a pool keeps the view across the water open. The back adjusts to five positions, from upright enough to read a book to completely flat for lying face down. RODA's own studio kept the shape rational and free of ornament, which is why it looks at home beside a modern house and a resort pool alike.

The support is Batyline, a coated polyester mesh, in a grade that carries IMO certification. Mesh lets water run straight through, so a wet swimsuit leaves no puddle behind and the sling dries in the open air. The aluminum frame will not rust, and its powder coating guards the metal against sun and pool splash. A pad with hydro-draining padding adds softness for long afternoons and lets rain pass through rather than collect.

There are two fixed color pairings. Option A sets a smoke frame against graphite mesh, a dark and graphic look that stands out on pale stone or light decking. Option B pairs a milk frame with clay mesh, softer and warmer, closer to sand and whitewashed walls. The pad can be covered in any fabric from RODA's outdoor range, so the same lounger can be kept plain or given a color accent.

RODA aimed Surfer at private gardens and luxury resorts at the same time, and both shape the details. The frame is light enough to drag into the shade, and stacking clears the deck at night or in winter. It is Italian outdoor furniture pared down to a frame, a sling and a hinge, and the short list of parts is what makes it easy to live with.
