RODA Caddy is a bar cart meant for the garden. Gordon Guillaumier gave it a rounded teak frame and two stainless steel trays that lift out, so drinks travel from the kitchen to the table on the tray itself. Parked between two chairs, it doubles as a side table. Like the rest of RODA outdoor furniture, it is designed to stay outside.

Trays that lift out

Caddy is a single piece, round, about 24 inches across and 31 inches high. The frame is teak with softly rounded members, and it holds two levels of polished stainless steel. Each level is a tray in its own right. Lift it off, carry glasses, ice or a plate of food to where people are sitting, then set it back on the frame.

The steel is AISI 316, the marine grade, chosen because it resists corrosion from salt air better than ordinary stainless. That makes Caddy a sensible choice beside a pool or on a coastal deck. Teak handles weather on its own; left unoiled it weathers to silver gray, and a coat of teak oil keeps the warm brown for anyone who prefers it.

Guillaumier set out to give a service object the same care as a sofa or a dining table. The rounded frame keeps the cart light to look at, so it can stay in a lounge area between uses and read as furniture there. In the dining zone it carries drinks and plates; next to a lounge chair it holds a book and a glass.

Caddy is made in Italy in natural teak with polished steel, the only finish RODA offers for it. It sits comfortably beside teak lounge pieces and looks just as right next to powder coated aluminum. Hotels can line several along a pool bar, while at home one parked by the outdoor dining table handles drinks for the evening.
