RODA Bernardo side tables with stone base
Two small tables make up RODA Bernardo, one square and one round, both standing on a heavy base of white Simplon stone. Rodolfo Dordoni kept the lines plain so the tables fit beside almost anything, from a teak lounge chair to an upholstered sofa or a banquette on a restaurant terrace. They are the quiet, useful end of the RODA outdoor furniture range.

White stone underfoot
The base is a disc of Simplon white granite, and it gives each table its weight and a low center of gravity. From it rises a slim stem in powder coated stainless steel, painted smoke, milk or rust, the same finishes RODA uses on many other families. That shared palette lets a Bernardo table stand next to furniture from another collection and still look like it belongs there.
Bernardo 353 is square, about 20 inches a side and 21 inches high, with a steel top in the color of the stem. Bernardo 354 is round, about 18 inches across, and takes a top in natural stoneware or in wavy glass in fern, navy or paprika. Stoneware resists stains and heat from a coffee pot; the rippled glass brings a small patch of color to a neutral terrace.
Dordoni designed these for hospitality as much as for homes: a bar terrace, a hotel balcony, the outdoor seating of a restaurant. They are light enough to carry from one chair to the next, and the stone foot keeps them steady once set down. At home, a pair can flank a sofa, or a single one can stand next to a reading chair.
Powder coated stainless steel and granite both stay outside all year without fuss. Bernardo is made in Italy by RODA, and the stem color and top are settled with the price request. Ordered in more than one color, the tables can help tie together a terrace furnished from several RODA families, which is the job Dordoni had in mind for them.
