RODA Aspic concrete dining and coffee tables
Poured concrete gives RODA Aspic both its weight and its shape. Gordon Guillaumier drew these tables with no legs at all: each top rests on a single curved wall that pinches in at the waist. There is a small side table, a round and an oval coffee table, and a round dining table. Few pieces of RODA patio furniture look this solid or stay put so well.

The three low tables share a gray concrete finish with the aggregate left visible, so the surface has a fine grain that catches low evening light. The side table is about 18 inches across and the round coffee table about 35. The oval one is close to 5 feet long and sits lowest, at 13 inches. Because the heights differ, Guillaumier meant them to be grouped, set close together so the tops step down in front of a sofa.
Aspic 160 is the dining table, round and about 63 inches across. It is cast from a newer blend of natural mineral components and organic fibers and comes in three colors drawn from the landscape: mole, green and orange. The sculpted base and exposed grain carry over from the low tables, so it reads as part of the same family even in a strong color.
Concrete is a practical outdoor material. It does not rust or rot, and sun will not warp it. It is also heavy, which keeps a table in place on a windy roof terrace but means the spot should be decided before delivery. The low tables are meant to work next to seating from other RODA collections, and the factory describes them as companions to sofas and poufs from other families.
Aspic suits a modern terrace, a courtyard with stone paving or a garden where its mass can balance lighter chairs and a planted border. Grouped in front of a long sofa, the three low tables do the job of one big coffee table and give the arrangement more depth. It is Italian outdoor furniture with a sculptor's approach, made to order for RODA in the colors listed with each piece.
